In addition to my formal training I have read over 160 books in the area of personal development, relationships, career guidance, Life Passions, and Human Needs, to name a few, for a well very well rounded understanding of every life challenge.
I chose to receive my main Coaching Certification from the Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention in 2013 due simply because I want to refine my coaching skills to coach people and get the result Tony Robbins has achieved with his clients no matter their situation and no matter the challenge. I am a huge follower of Tony Robbins who has helped shape my career but also my personality. Over the years I continue to attend a yearly bootcamp to learn new strategies and refine my skills as a coach.
My Strategic Intervention Coach training has provided me with the Tools and Strategies needed to, not only, fully understand my clients needs and challenges, but also to help them reach a higher level of personal fulfillment in their daily lives. I have also recieved education in coaching through MAPS Coaching and through BOLD - Business Objective a Life by Design. as well I have studied NLP - Neurolinguistics Programing. Having studied different forms of coaching, yet fully adopting Strategic Intervention, I have calibrated myself to handle any challenge a client faces as well as successfully assist in helping clients to attain any desired goal.
A PERSONAL STORY - HOW IT ALL BEGAN FOR ME
I began my coaching career at the age of 31 just 4 years ago and Ihave never felt more fulfilled. This is because my story to how I became a Life Coach is like the story of most people who have reached their lifes purpose and that is through a lot of trial and error. I was not a straight A student and almost didn't graduate High School. I had applied to one college but never sent in my final paper and thus never went to a large university. Instead, I went to a community college in Maryland and studied Political Science and Psychology for 3 years while also working. I dropped out of college due to the fact that I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I began working small jobs with no direction, no ambition and no passion for what I was doing.
My frustrations grew into anxiety and depression and after a a short while I was just plain lost. By my mid twenties I decided to do some serious self-help to find my purpose. I had always been interested in self-help and in learning about ways to improve myself and get the most out of what I was doing. Again, it wasn't until my mid twenties that I decided to get serious. Small jobs became government contracting jobs though these positions were always for months not years and my passion for what I was doing was just not there.
One day I picked up the book Rich Dad Poor Dad and it completely inspired me to take a huge leap of faith and go into business for myself in Real Estate. I was a Realtor for 5 years during the Ressesion and actually did very well for myself and felt passionate about what I was doing. During that same time, having been in Real Estate for roughly 3 years, I started being approached by some new Real Estate agents who wanted to know how I was successful in my career. That is when I began Coaching professionally though at the time it was not "Life Coaching" as it is now. I was coaching agents on their businesses but right away I saw that most of the agents had no issues with determining which step they needed to follow to be successful, it was actually their motivations and other personal challenges which kept them from really making progressing. Thus, I began coaching these agents on their personal development and that spread to their relationships and even whether they wanted to really be in this career. Without formal training I just had a natural talent for guiding people towards their goals as well as the abilty to see what in their lives isn't working and really causing them to feel stuck and hindered. I loved coaching so much but it was just something I was doing on the side and at a deeply deeply discounted rate.
Well, after a couple months my motivation for Real Estate began to run out and I didn't know why at first. I began slacking and began having issues within my work which began spreading to other parts of my life. I became very frustrated because I had really believed that I had found my passion and found my career path. After a while I realized I was doing more for coaching then I was for Real Estate and I started thinking that this could be made into a career. I was passionate about and excited to work with my clients. What really made me think I could be a professional coach was when one of my agent clients reached out to me about their son who was about to enter college. He was lost and had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and was going through anxiety and depression and approach avoidance for the things he had to do before leaving for college. With only this agents confidence in me to help her son I decided to try and help him and just use the same principles I was using to help agents. Long story short I was able to aid this young man within a month to determine his passion in life which he didn't pursue simply due to a misguided belief he had adopted years earlier. This opened the path towards helping decided to pursue his dream and like magic his challenges, anxiety and depression vanished. I decided in early 2013 to finally take a leap of faith and go into coaching full time. Now, even though I was gaining the results I wanted with the agents and this young man, I knew that I needed some formal coaching training and that is when I discovered Strategic Intervention after searching for a program to teach me what Tony Robbins accomplishes as a coach. The rest is history...
